TYRE FRYER Matchbox Superfast 1972 Made in England No.42 1:64

This diecast model is a classic Matchbox by Lesney – “Tyre Fryer”, a single-seat hot rod/dragster in approximately 1:64 scale and approximately 75 mm long. It has a wedge-shaped front with rectangular headlamp recesses, an open cockpit with one yellow bucket seat and a black plastic chassis with Superfast axle suspension. The main feature is the centrally mounted chrome engine, with a black insert imitating an air intake/supercharger and a round drive detail at the front; the rear wheels are very wide, while the narrower front wheels have five-spoke silver rims. The base bears the following moulded inscriptions: “MATCHBOX”, “Superfast”, “TYRE FRYER”, “No 42”, “MADE IN ENGLAND”, “1972 LESNEY PRODUCTS & Co”, “PAT NO 1238927”. Condition rated 3.40/5: visible scratches and paint loss on the edges, light chassis scuffing and slight tyre wear; most of the engine chrome remains intact.

Used, collectible diecast model; after restoration it is like new (without a box, unless a box is shown in the photos). We restore models with 3D-printed replacements for missing parts and special paints made for restoring model cars. If the model shows signs of use, it has been intentionally left partly unrestored to keep its individual vintage character. The photos show the actual condition of the model.

The date given in the title or description is not always the date the casting was made. It may refer to the design of the model, the first casting series or the production of the real car. We give the dates the manufacturer states on the base. If in doubt, check all information against the photo of the base of the model.
